NCAA Championship Silver Medalist at 128 pounds in 1948; National Amateur Athletic Union Championship Bronze Medalist in 1944, 45; Three time All-American in 1944, 45, 48; Two time Big Ten Champion at 128 pounds in 1944, 45, third in 1946, and runner-up in 1948; First freshman to win Big Ten Conference Wrestling Championships in 1944; Undefeated in dual meets during entire collegiate career; and inducted into fourteen Wrestling Hall of Fames as competitor and coach.
