Six time all-American swimmer; all-American in 150 yard backstroke in 1935, 1936,1937; member of all-American 300 yard medley relay team in 1935, 1936, 1937; set NCAA record for 150 yard backstroke in 1936; member of Big Ten Conference championship team in 1936; and captain of Iowa swim team in 1937.
