First team all-American quarterback in 1956; most valuable player of Big Ten Conference and Iowa football team in 1956, and Rose Bowl in 1957; first team all-Big Ten in 1956; member of Big Ten and Rose Bowl championship team; played eleven years for Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Canadian Football League, all-Pro in 1957, 59, 65, and led team to four CFL Grey Cup titles in six title games; and member of Canadian Football League Hall of Fame.
