Coached Big Ten championship teams 1956, 58, 60 and Rose Bowl champions in 1957, 59; led nation in total offense and voted number one team in nation by Football Writer’s Association in 1958; finished second in nation by AP and UPI polls in 1958, 60; coached thirteen all-Americans and twenty-two all-Big Ten players; Coach of the Year honors in 1953, 56, 57, 58, 60; career record of 52-27-4 (.651); and member of National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.
