Set Iowa single game records with 155 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions in 1947; named to Best of Decade (1940-49) Iowa football team; selected NFL all-time safety in 1969, four-time all-Pro, and to eight Pro Bowls; set eight NFL records for career pass interceptions (79) and yards gained on interceptions (1,282), punts returned for career (258), season (38) and single game (8), career punt return yardage (2,209), career games played (167) from 1948-61 with New York Giants and Green Bay Packers, and consecutive games played (158); first black NFL coach in 1963; and member of Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
