First team All-American guard in 1963; second team All-American guard in 1963; first team All-Big Ten Conference in 1963; Iowa’s Most Valuable Player in 1963; played in two post-season games (East-West Shrine game and Hula Bowl) in 1963 and College All-Star Game (Co-Captain) in 1964; played six years in National Football League 1964-1969 and in Super Bowl IV in 1969; and named to Iowa’s first team All-Century Team- Defense (Linebacker) in 1989.
