First Team All-American AND All-Big Ten Conference, 1971; Second Team All-Big Ten conference, 1969, 70; Iowa Team Most Valuable Player and Co-Captain, 1971; Played in Blue-Gray Classic (Most Valuable Player), Senior Bowl (Most Valuable Defensive Player), and Senior All-Star game, 1971; First Round National Football League Draft choice (12th overall) – Chicago Bears, 1972; and played six years in the NFL.
