First team all-American end in 1957; first team all-Big Ten Conference in 1957; member of 1956 Big Ten Conference and 1957 Rose Bowl championship team; captain of 1957 football team; set six Iowa receiving records; selected for four post-season bowl games; played eleven years with Detroit Lions in National Football League, three time all-Pro, team captain in 1963, 64, and most valuable player in 1964; and voted first team on All-Century Iowa Football Team in 1989.
