Team physician and trainer for Iowa athletic sports teams from 1939-71; inventor of buffered aspirin (Bufferin) and Rolaids; Iowa College of Medicine’s first rheumatologist and pioneer in field of endoscopy and electrocardiography; served as director of School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Unit of University Hospitals; and founder of Iowa chapter of Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation and served on National Governing Board.
