Third team all-American quarterback and Iowa’s first all-American in 1900; first team all-Western Conference quarterback in 1899, 1900 and captain of all-Western Conference team in 1900; member of undefeated Western Conference football championship teams in 1899, 1900; captain of baseball team in 1900; state champion runner-up in long jump in 1900; first and only winner of ten major letters in school history; and awarded Max Mayer Cup for excellence in scholarship and athletics in 1901.
